Saffron on the Hill

Saffron on the Hill

We had a lovely time visiting our friends at Saffron on the Hill. Our welcome party included the ever-popular pug try-hard....Liliput!

Last time we saw 'The Put' she was severely obese and dragging her huge self on the deck making very large noises. Karen & her team have done an amazing job with Liliput. Despite giving us all a scare with her recent health problems, we can report that she is looking so happy and healthy in comparison to our last visit. Her personality which conveys well through her digital diary on Saffron's Facebook page is even more charismatic in real life. She is a treasure and truly loves her place on the Hill.

This is one of our favourite happy snaps taken on our visit on the Hill. Armed only with our iphones, we quickly snapped this beautiful shot as Hannah and Liliput were waiting for Karen to come home. A mother's love is unconditional and in return she receives the loyal love and following of these gorgeous rescue dogs. There is only one Liliput, and in Liliput's eyes (and all the rescue dogs on the Hill) ~ there is only one Karen!

Gypsy loved watching the horse play in the paddock. She must be like her Pop who also loves horses.

Wasn't the weather intense in Melbourne over the past few days! We were lucky to snuggle up in front of the fireplace. A firm favourite position for all the rescue dogs!

Lily looks like she is resting on a lovely cushion, but it is infact our nobleman Zac in his cute jacket!

We wondered when Poppet may jump in for the cuddle with her Mum ~ Granny Giggles. After some play time outside in the wet grass, she was happy to retire in a pug pile next to Granny. She enjoyed visiting the Hill and playing with all her pug friends.

We had a little play outside with Liliput inbetween naps in front of the fireplace :)

Before we sign off,  the pugs would like to remind you that there are two ways you can support the rescue and rehabilitation that happens on the Hill.
1) Check out Saffron's amazing range of collars, leads and harnesses. Visit their Facebook page and check out the latest ribbon range for these funky, cool dog accessories!

2) Visit Saffron's ebay store and support the rescue dogs by purchasing your dog toys there.

Remember all profits help the amazing work they do!
Let the dogs be dogs and live free, love and play ;)

Drive-in Pugs!

Winter time.....brrrrrrrr
The idea of sitting outside to eat a meal isn't all that pleasant. Not to mention trying to find friends crazy enough to join us for a meal in the freezing cold! So 'Date Nights' with the dogs needed adaption.

A thought to catch a mid-week movie lead to the usual guilt factor of not wanting to leave the dogs. Pugs are huge companion dogs and while Gypsy and Poppet love each other to bits and have lots of fun together while we are at work, it is us they want to spend time with when the school bell rings. And we love them for that. Anyone reading this will clearly be a dog lover who understands that feeling of wanting to get home for that larger than life greeting your dogs offer you.

So, the adaption of 'Doggie Date Nights'......After whinging that the movie we wanted to see was a 'Cry Baby' session ie Mums and Bubs and that naturally didn't extend to our furry babies, we then clicked that we too, could go to our own 'Mums and Bubs' session.....THE DRIVE-IN! duh!

Spontaneously grabbing some liver treats, we pick up the girls and fly out the door. Their movie treats sorted, we look forward to the popcorn and choc-tops that await us!

Drive-ins are perfect for dog lovers ~ we all loved hanging out in the car eating our treats and there was no guilt factor for leaving them. For the girls it was like their usual favourite activity at night- snuggling into our laps with the odd 'meerkat' moment where they spring up to check what is going on. Poppet was naturally snoring about 15 minutes into the film, while Gypsy seemed partly engaged in the 'massive TV' and checking out all the cars that slowly appeared around us. It was super, super fun!

Here are the links to the Drive-in Theatres in Melbourne. Enjoy ;-)

RSPCA Million Paws Walk 2012

Million Paws Walk is a fun day for any animal lover. Whether you’re a pet owner or not, it’s a great day out. The main purpose of the event is raising funds and with over 144,000 animals finding shelter at the RSPCA annually, every dollar counts. As well as the walk, there will be entertainment, displays, stalls, giveaways and a host of other activities.

Million Paws Walk is a terrific day out for all and an important fundraising event for the RSPCA. Funds raised through entry fees, online fundraising and the sale of merchandise help assist the RSPCA to operate its animal shelters, support its Inspectorate services and provide community education on animal welfare issues.

Taking part in the Million Paws Walk is a great way to help animals in need. Each year, the RSPCA in Australia investigates more than 43,000 complaints of animal cruelty and neglect.

So brush off your walking shoes, pull out your pet’s leash and bring along your “best friend” to Australia’s premier pet event.

The next Million Paws Walk will take place in all states and territories on Sunday 20 May 2012.
