“Guess the Era” Wedding Dress Parade & Devonshire Tea

2pm – 5pm
Saturday 18th August

3 Ashburn Grove, Ashburton
(behind the church)
Melway 60, D10

Our Pug Family are hosting a fun fundraiser event not to be missed!

Saffron on the Hill provides temporary (or in some cases permanent) care for neglected, abused and abandoned animals. All of our dogs stay in our care for as long as it takes to get them ready for adoption. Often our animals require substantial care whether it be physical, emotional or a combination of both.

“Guess the Era” Wedding Dress Parade & Devonshire Tea will be a fun afternoon; a perfect opportunity to get your girlfriends (or gorgeous guyfriends!) together for a catch up and have a laugh whilst supporting a wonderful cause. All monies raised will fund the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of our rescue dogs.

If you are a fan of Saffron on the Hill, you would've followed our courageous and beautiful British Bulldog Lilliput, who will be our star guest. Lilliput won over many hearts through her desire to be a pug ~ she is definitely the most popular pug-tryhard we know going around Rescue Groups ;) She is now in Foster Care, though will always remain close to her family of pugs on the Hill and often visits to see them all.

Another beautiful bulldog joining in wedding celebrations!

Make sure you come along to see Lilliput strut her stuff! She wants to show off the amazing results of her diet!!!!!

Tickets are $15 and must be pre-booked!

Contact event organiser Di on 0421 666 203 or admin@inkpanels.com.au

Please note: the beautiful black & white photographs of Lilliput were taken by the very talented Erin McNulty. If you would like your own personal copy, please visit her webpage for more information: http://www.erinmcnulty.com/category/dogs/bulldog/

Oscar's Gotcha Day

Oscar's Gotcha Day

July 9 2012

July 9th 2012 is the day Oscar celebrates 1 year of freedom, however there are thousands of dogs that remain confined in terrible conditions on puppy factories not only in Australia but also around the world.

July 9th is a day to celebrate but to also remember the ones we are still fighting for. We encourage you to do something on this day to raise awareness about Oscar’s Law and be part of the solution. Organise a morning tea at your workplace, wear your OL shirt, contact your local rescue group/shelter and find out what’s on their wish list, create an event and get friends and family to help you donate blankets or what ever they may need, get some of our postcards and letterbox around your neighbourhood.

Be leaders, be creative, raise awareness, the power is in our hands. Don’t forget to take photos and share with us all how you made a difference on July 9th 2012.

David at Goodwill Wine has organised limited edition wine celebrating Oscar's "Gotcha Day" on July 9th 2012 with a beautiful photo of Oscar on the label and special wording to celebrate this day.

This will only be available from now until July 10th 2012 so be quick to order your limited edition wine and celebrate Oscar's 1st Anniversary of Freedom.

Pug Rescue Parade

The Calabria Club
Bulla

Having given support towards each and every pug rescued in 2011 from appalling conditions in puppy farms - the Pug Club of Victoria agreed to hold a 'Rescued with Love' parade during the lunch break at the 2012 Championship Show held on this day, March 24 2012.

Rescue pugs who attended may have already been adopted, or are still looking for their forever home.

Each rescue pug received a 'Rescued with Love' special medallion from the Pug Club and their photographs and rescue stories featured in the Show catalogue and within the Show hall.

Thank-you to Pugs SOS, Pug Rescue Victoria and our darling friends at Saffron on the Hill who organised past and present rescue pugs to be present at the parade. It was an important event to be present at, to make breeders and members of the public aware of how many pedigree pugs are ending up in puppy farms and rescue shelters.

Our pedigree rescue pug Poppet was very excited to be awarded her very first medal.

Be sure to check out 'Keeping her Eye on Melbourne' facebook page for more photos. Gypsy was a very busy photographer and even got in a few happy snaps herself ;)

Saffron on the Hill Open Day 2012

March 17, 2012
12-5pm
$10 Entry includes afternoon tea
Loch

Saffron on the Hill is near and dear to our hearts. As we educated ourselves about puppy farming and the horrible conditions many poor darling dogs had to endure for backyard breeding, we came to meet many amazing rescue organisations, shelters and foster circles in Victoria. Saffron on the Hill was where we found, and adopted, our beautiful 4 year old mama-no-more Poppet.

On March 17, 2012 Karen and her friends on the Hill will host a wonderful Open Day. We encourage any dog lovers who are passionate about making a difference in spreading the word, particularly to those who are considering introducing a dog into their lives. The more people who understand how many rescue folk are out there working hard to save lives, the more we can encourage potential pet owners to assist these folk by looking at adopting a rescue/ shelter dog or buying from a registered breeder instead of a pet shop pet. Please visit Poppet's Page for some links to useful sites on closing down puppy farms.

Saffron on the Hill's Open Day will be filled with love and laughter, with the stars of the show their rescue pugs. If you have ever owned this breed, you will understand how unique each and every little personality is. Some believe the closest thing to man is ape. We believe it is pug! lol!

There will be novelty trick shows, a costume competition, face painting for the kids, pet portraits from Erin McNaulty Photography, sausage sizzle and the most gorgeous leads and harnesses amongst other treats from the Saffron shop.

Make sure you RSVP!
