Pop-Up Store
9 Victoria Ave, Albert Park VIC
Online Store

We spent the afternoon bay hopping, enjoying what is
left of the sunshine! It was a beautiful afternoon in
Melbourne!
First stop was Yap Wear in Albert Park. We found out
about Yap Wear through our friends at Saffron on the Hill,
as they are stocking Saffron's amazing collars and leads!
(as seen on display below). Jen from Yap Wear is a huge supporter
of animal welfare charities and rescue groups and displays many
posters and postcards about puppy farms as well as stocking
Oscar's Law Bandanas.

We ordered Gypsy and Poppet each a vintage denim coat
for winter visits to cafes and restaurants. We will be sure
to update you on their new look when we visit Jen @
Yap Wear again!
If you have a four-legged family member who you love to
take with you everywhere, be sure to check out Yap Wear's
amazing range of coats for winter! They are proudly
Australian Made!
Sandown St Beach, Brighton VIC
Next stop was the Sandown St Beach for dogs in Brighton.
It is completely fenced and off-leash all year round.
The water is shallow so great for dogs who love to play
in puddles and splash but not swim ie Gypsy!
The girls had a ball exploring their surrounds.
City views from Sandown St Beach
Weeeeeee I love the beach!
I'm a Where's Wally at this beach!
I'm the same colour as the sand!

Christmas is......spending time with family
Gypsy is enjoying her holiday. While her blog is a source of information for dog lovers who like to take their dogs with them in and around Melbourne, it is also a blog to highlight the beautiful Gypsy, who inspires us, makes us laugh and shows us as much love as we offer her!
If you are not a dog lover yourself, it may be hard to comprehend how people can become so consumed by their four-legged companions. To people like us, they are part of the family and a source of great company. They are loyal and intuitive. Cheeky and entertaining. You will never feel alone with a dog in your life. Though greetings may not always be cliche at home (often we can come home to Gypsy with her head dipped, tail between the legs which communicates 'I didn't like the colours of that decorative cushion you bought Mum so I destroyed it'........ but nevertheless, they are mostly just so excited and thrilled to be in your presence. To have your time and love.
Gypsy's blog is a lovely way to share with family, friends, new dog owners, other dog bloggers, dog lovers and adventurous souls in Melbourne how Gypsy has enhanced our lives. And how we can enhance hers, by including her in our busy lives. She has many interactions with dogs and people each week, from controlled socialisation at her new local dog park to cafe stops, urban dog walks etc She even experienced her first Carols by Candlelight in the park this year! If Gypsy can be included in our outings, she will be!
This time of year is all about family. Christmas is a very important time for us to spend with our loved ones, including the four-legged members! It is not about where we are, but who we are with. Later this week we will also celebrate her 1st birthday! Another excuse to have fun with the family, and be all together. Gypsy doesn't mind being the reason, she loves being surrounded by a loving, committed and extended family.
It is our hope those considering bringing a dog into their lives understand the commitment and time it involves in training and caring for a dog. We have spent much time with Gypsy, and early in 2012 she will join a new behaviour training course for re-inforcement. We see this as an investment into all the good times we will spend with her! She is an intelligent and beautiful dog. We can't use the catchphrase 'she is only human', but dogs alike do make mistakes, or get resentful when you do have to leave them etc. It has been a learning curve understanding her needs and providing her with enough stimulus while we are at work ~ and timing her walks and interactions with dogs/ people to ensure she is a happy dog.
Gypsy will return to blogging about her adventures in Melbourne soon. For now, she is enjoying the most important thing in her world. Her family.
Blessings to everyone for a safe, happy and healthy festive season!

# Love you Molly
Gypsy sends her prayers and thoughts and hugs to the one and only Molly Meldrum. The 'Music Guru' of Australia, based in Melbourne, is critically ill in hospital after a fall at his home.
He broke several ribs, punctured a lung and cracked the back of his head which led to bleeding on his brain and was put into an induced coma before being taken to The Alfred hospital, Melbourne.
He underwent surgery late last night to relieve pressure on his brain and remains in a critical condition.
Molly is a dog lover, calling his companion dogs over the years the same (fabulous!) name 'Ziggy'.
Tributes and prayers have flooded in from all around the country and world. His brother commented that Molly is rarely overwhelmed, but this show of love would most certainly overwhelm him!
Molly is a dog lover, calling his companion dogs over the years the same (fabulous!) name 'Ziggy'.
While we are pouring love to our Molly, we are going to mention another Molly who needs someone's love and care. This is Molly from The Lost Dog's Home (Campaspe). She is looking for a new 'forever' home.
Miss Molly is a Labrador cross breed. Full of energy and a great thirst for life, Molly will keep you entertained for hours on end. Molly loves to play and run and needs an owner who can give her lots to do. Twice daily walks/runs, obedience training and plenty of toys are essential if Molly is not to become bored and destructive. She will also require a home with a roomy back yard and secure high fences to help keep her safe and happy. Currently carrying a little extra weight around her middle Molly needs to be placed on to a light diet to help her loose some weight, and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Labradors are well known for their zest for life and make loyal companions.
Molly Meldrum visited The Lost Dog's Home during the Christmas season of 2006 when one of his beloved Ziggy's disappeared from his home in Richmond.
Christmas in 2006 had a happy, positive outcome for Molly and Ziggy. We are hoping and praying Molly and Ziggy 4 are reunited again very soon and Molly returns to full health after some much needed rest.

Fat Helen's & Oscar's Law
78 Chapel St
Windsor 3181
ph (03) 9510 2244
We stopped by Fat Helen's as we saw the Oscar's Law items in the window. Gypsy had asked Santa for an Oscar's Law bandana, but we decided to get her an early Xmas present.....
Fat Helen's is a treasure trove full of kitschy love. Had our stomachs not been growling, we could've spent all afternoon in there discovering new things hiding in the store! It had a fun vibe with a wonderful & helpful retail assistant.
Gypsy is a total fan ;-)
Oscar's Law aims to: Abolish the factory farming of companion animals, ban the sale of factory farmed companion animals from pet shops, online and in print media and insist the government run a proper campaign on responsible pet ownership.
If you would like to be a voice that counts, head on over to one of Oscar's pages and support this wonderful cause.
Gypsy has many shelter rescue links on the side panel to the right of this post. They are always there should you be considering having a dog in your life, or adding to the family!
We encourage you to educate yourself about first buying and then, owning a dog. While it is a huge commitment, the love you give and receive is priceless.
The one-eyed (cute!) bandits spreading the word about Oscar's Law.....
As Christmas is approaching, we felt it a good time to spread awareness about Oscar's Law. Educate yourself should you be wanting to introduce a dog into your family this Christmas. Help a beautiful dog in need of your love or buy from a reputable and registered breeder.
Gypsy wants OSCAR'S LAW!

Fritz Gelato ~ St Kilda
11A Fitzroy St
St Kilda 3182
FRITZ GELATO specialises in organic Italian style ice cream, sorbets and frozen yoghurts. They pride ourselves on using the best fresh quality ingredients, eliminating the need for artificial flavours and colours.
Gypsy walking (& socialising!) down Fitzroy St
It is not uncommon to see queues a mile long on Fitzroy St. For the Prince Bandroom, various wine bars and pubs. But we are sure the longest queue will be outside FRITZ this summer!
Gypsy loves a good urban stroll down Fitzroy St. It is always buzzing with an eclectic mix of people. FRITZ can be the drawcard on a barmy night in Melbourne. What is there not to love about a summer stroll topped off with the smoothest, yummiest gelato on the south side?!
What flavour have you got tonight? |
The award winning Caramelised Fig & Roasted Almonds ice-cream is clearly our favourite flavour, though Gypsy isn't fussy ~ she will happily clean our cups after we have finished ~ no matter the flavour! Thank goodness we combine this visit with exercise!
Make sure you allow yourself the indulgence of one of Fritz's original & unique ice-cream flavours. It is officially summer so what are you waiting for?! ;-)
